<<What is DropQ?>>
DropQ is a little application for QuicKeys. If you use QuicKeys, you know it is very useful utility. You can execute a complicated operation with one key stroke. But wait, before execution, you at first open the file you want to process from your application. Have you felt that this is a little annoying? I have felt. That is why I made the DropQ.
Using DropQ is quite easy. When you drag and drop a file (or files) into DropQ, it automatically launch the application you selected beforehand, tells the application to open the file you droped, tells QuicKeys to execute the sequence you selected beforehand, and after all files are processed, the application and DropQ quits. You can drag and drop more than one file at one time. All files are opend and processed one after another. This is the most useful part of DropQ. For example, to convert many TIFF format pictures to JPEG format pictures using Adobe Photoshop. DropQ can do virtuaIly any thing. It is up to your idea.
<<DropQ Setting>>
1. Make a copy of DropQ. You can do as many as you like. Each DropQ copy remembers a different setting.
2. Launch the copy you made. You will see an window that has "Application" field, "Sequence" field, and "Select" button for each. Initially, both field should contain the string "Not Specified".
3. Click the Select button for Application. The standard file open dialog will apear.
4. Select the application that you want to launch when you drop your files into DropQ. You can select any application. After that, you will see the application file name with full path in the Application field.
5. Click the Select button for Sequence. Again, the standard file open dialog will apear.
6. Select the QuicKeys sequence that you want to execute when you drop your files into DropQ. You can find QuicKeys sequences in the Sequence folder in the QuicKeys folder in the Preference folder in the System folder. One limitation: only sequences in the Universal Key Set are executable. Don't select other sequences. After that, you will see the sequence name in the Sequence field.
7. Quit DropQ (just click the close box of the window). That's all.
<<Using DropQ>>
After setting application and sequence, you can drag and drop any file you want to process into the DropQ. You can drop more than one file at a time. Each file will be opened and processed one after another. After all files processed, the application and DropQ will automatically quit. You can't drop folder or disk icon.
DropQ doesn't check whether the file you droped can be opened by the application.
If you want to stop the running execution, activate the running DropQ window and type command + "." (period).
I recommend that you change the name of DropQ to the sequence name. Also changing icon of DropQ to the Application icon may helpfull for you.
One DropQ application can have only one application and one sequence setting. If you want to do with another application or another sequence, make a copy of DropQ and set it as you want. Of course you can re-use the old DropQ with the new setting.
To avoid the problem of timing, you had better put some "Wait" event at the top of the sequence which detects the completion of the file open, such as Menu wait which waits "Save as" item is activated, or Window wait which waits document window apears. You may have better put one second pause event after the wait event. Also, one second pause at the end of the sequence may solve a problem of the timing if you have. Try in a variety of ways.
<<Requirement>>
System 7 or later is required. Of cource, QuicKeys is required. You must have installed CEToolbox extention, QuicKeys control panel, and QuicKeys Toolbox extention. I have tested DropQ with version 3.0 of QuicKeys, but I don't know that DropQ is compatible with earlier versions of QuicKeys. I think DropQ will work if CEIAC is installed...sorry if it doesn't work.

DropQ is a freeware program. You may distribute for non-commerchial purposes. But you may not include it in any commercial products without my written permission.
